Will Electric Heavy Duty Vehicles Take Over?

Image Will Electric Heavy Duty Vehicles Take Over?

If you happened to attend the 2019 Heavy Duty Truck Show in Indianapolis, you may have thought the arrival of electric trucks was just around the corner.

But according to Trucking.com, diesel is still king. The introduction of electric trucks is only in the early stages of testing and implementation with fewer than 200 electric trucks reportedly hitting the market in 2018. Full adoption isn’t expected until at least 2030 (in California) and later.

Still, one must ask, what impact will these vehicles have on traditional filtration solutions once the market for them starts to grow?

While these vehicles won’t need traditional fuel or oil filters, they will require cabin air and hydraulic and coolant filters. This shift will have a direct impact on current business practices, but savvy distributors who stay on top of these changes and plan ahead can put themselves in a better position to take advantage in the years ahead.

The good news is the market for diesel filtration is expected to remain strong for the next 50 years, so there’s no immediate need to make any drastic changes. In the meantime, you can depend on Luber-finer to continue to offer the required filters for diesel trucks, as well as our in-depth knowledge and sales support.
