Champion Laboratories Announces Recipient of 2009 National FFA Organization Scholarship
ALBION, IL, June 23, 2009 – Champion Laboratories, Inc., the company behind the most trusted brand names in the automotive, fuel-dispensing and heavy-duty filtration industries, continues to demonstrate its commitment to the communities in which it operates by announcing that is has once again funded a $1,000 continuing-education scholarship through its Luber-finer Heavy-Duty Filter brand. The scholarship is administered by the National FFA Foundation, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, which is dedicated to making a positive influence in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The recipient of this year’s Champion Laboratories/Luber-finer National FFA scholarship is Emily Hatfield, the daughter of Richard and Paula Hatfield of Wayne City, IL. Emily recently graduated from Wayne City High School and will continue her education in agricultural studies at Rend Lake College, Ina, IL. Emily qualified for the scholarship as a high-school graduate seeking a four-year degree in Agricultural Communications, Agricultural Business Management or Agricultural Sales and Marketing who resides in the counties of Edwards, Wayne or White in Illinois, or York County in South Carolina, all areas where Champion Laboratories facilities are located.
In 2009, more than 7,800 students across the country took part in the National FFA Organization’s Collegiate Scholarship Program and approximately 1,800 of those students received a total of more than $2.2 million in scholarship money. Founded in 1928, the National FFA Organization, with more than 7,000 chapters currently operating in the country, represents 300 careers in the food, fiber and natural resources industries, while using agricultural education to create real-world success.
